Become A Member

Eligibility

If you are resident within 20 mins walk or about 2km of the garden, or have some particular expertise that is valuable to the garden your household is eligible to become a member of Lochiel Park Community Garden Inc (the Association). Membership acceptance is at the discretion of the committee. Members are eligible to lease a plot in the garden when one becomes available.

Allocation and leasing of plots

If no plots are available at the time you apply for membership, your household will go on the waiting list. The date of receipt of your application by the Secretary will determine your place on the waiting list. Members of the garden receive priority for allocation of plots.

Once you are allocated a plot, you will be expected to pay the seasonal plot fees, to grow something in it, and to continually improve the soil. You are also encouraged to come to monthly working bees to assist with managing the common areas, learn by doing and get to know other members

 

Fees

Two types of fees are payable:

1. An annual membership fee is currently set at $25;

2. A seasonal plot fee set at $25 per season. This is due twice a year, on 1 April and 1 October (i.e. at the beginning of each growing season).  Your household may be a member without necessarily leasing a plot.
